First issue of GRAY now live

I’m proud to present the first issue of GRAY magazine, focused on Pacific Northwest design, from British Columbia to Seattle to Portland. As editor at large for the first issue, I was lucky enough to write about some of my favorite PNW subjects: architect George Suyama, book-seller Peter Miller, Jean Jongeward and the color gray, and the Eames Lounger.

The preview issue of GRAY magazine

At long last, the preview issue of GRAY magazine is live. This is the efforts of editors and art directors who survived the folding of Seattle Homes & Lifestyles magazine, and decided to start anew.

As the magazine’s editor at large—a privilege the team allowed me, even though I haven’t been on SH&L staff for a few years—I was tickled to write, edit, and copyedit for this first issue. Many of my stories were saved for the first print issue, to be out so soon!
