Try Tapiovaara’s Chairs On for Size

About two months ago, I got to do a really cool interview with the global marketing director for Artek, the furniture-manufacturing company that produces the designs of midcentury modern architect Alvar Aalto. Artek recently bought all the designs by Aalto’s contemporary, Ilmari Tapiovaara, including the Mademoiselle rocking chair to the left.

There’s just something about sleek, shiny, black spindle-style chairs that I love. See more of Tapiovaara’s designs, and learn more about the acquisition at ARCHITECT magazine online.

Architect turns truffle-maker

In one of my favorite interviews I’ve done, an architect in Maine tells me about what it’s like to make chocolate truffles. Isn’t that everyone’s dream? To quit the harrying 9-to-5 and make chocolate? Or in my case, make cake? Check it out on ARCHITECT.
